LABEL LOVE: SHAPE SHIFTR

Thank god Shape Shiftr was brought to my attention by lovely SheerLuxe intern Caroline Moore. How could I have lived so long without it!?

Designed by Meghan Lavery & J’aime Lizotte – two natives of Maine, New England, who now reside in Brooklyn NY – Shape Shiftr is what all cool girls should be wearing: buttery soft leather and nude velvet, geometric panelled leggings and bodies, waterfall front blazers with spike shoulders, and floaty minimalist shirts in creamy hues.

This is design for stylish girls in their twenties who can’t afford Celine yet.

TREND OBSESSION: NUDE FROM HEAD TO TOE

(Images from Style.com)

Of course it’s a giant cliché to refer to any fashion trend as ‘the new black’, in fact I promise never to type those words on this blog ever again, but in the case of nude tones this description is particularly apt so please hear me out.

Until now wearing an outfit which consisted of just one colour was a bit of a style faux pas, unless it was black (or you happen to be Fred Butler who can pull it off), but lo and behold – caramel / blush / toffee /whatever appealing name you want to lend to beige, it’s a shade that really does work head to toe. Thus truly making it the new black. Am I right or am I right?

TREND OBSESSION: POPPED COLLARS

Something is happening to coat collars…

At February’s Fashion Weeks I noticed them as a design / styling element more than I ever have in the past. Collars have become the defining feature of a jacket. The pièce de résistance to look out for next time you’re coat shopping.

Three designs to look for?:

1. Elongated elegant lapels

2. Collarless coats and jackets

3. Collars designed to be permanently popped

THE SHAPE OF BAGS TO COME

Welcome to the new bag shapes; The Backpack (Donna Karan AW10), The Box Tote (Celine SS10), and The Bum-bag (Angel Jackson AW10). What I’m liking about them? – practicality. Whilst I’m a huge fan of the way clutches look, they don’t half make the most mundane of tasks unbelievably laborious! A bag’s main function is obviously to make our lives easier. To allow us to transport all the paraphernalia of our daily lives with blissful ease and simplicity. That’s what the new bag shapes are about.

Paris Fashion Week was wall to wall with editors carrying their show schedules, Blackberrys, notepads etc in their Celine box totes (It’s made from canvas as well so it’s ultra light), and I hear that celeb pre-orders have already started pouring in for the Angel Jackson snakeskin bum-bag. If you want one in time for festival season you can order yours online from www.angeljackson.co.uk.
