Come closer, I have a confession to make. Sometimes, when the country is enduring the worst of cold snaps – the type that makes your face sting and your little totsies freeze solid – I have been known to betray my morals and wear my Ugg boots out of the house. Many think this one of the most heinous crimes against fashion, but when it’s -3 and I find myself at the mercy of London’s transport system, all respect for the sanctity of style goes out the window and I gratefully don my Uggs with a smile on my face and joy in my heart.
However, it would be nice if I could keep my feet warm and my fashion credibility intact. I made the decision in January that Ugg substitutes would have to be scouted for next season, so imagine my glee when I saw an abundance of shearling lined clogs and booties at the Arcadia AW10 press day. The fashion gods heard my prayers and delivered generously indeed.
