MY BEST SALES PURCHASE…

I’ve been wanting this Acne trench coat for months, ever since I started eyeing up the one my old boss Mel and her wife Mary Portas share between the two of them. I figured at £575 I’d have to save up for it for quite some time but then I spotted it in the Matches sale for the much more reasonable price of £288.

Okay it’s still £288 – hardly the absolute bargain of the century – but when an item you’ve been pining after for ages gets significantly cheaper and goes into sale it’s time to seize your very last opportunity to own it.

Acne’s twist on the staple trench is typically cool and quirky (gotta love that Scandinavian touch) with a buttery-soft leather back panel, structured shoulders and delicately-crinkled silk lining which hangs below the hem.

Come the onset of autumn it’ll help to ease the pain of frostier weather. It’s so so so lovely!

TREND OBSESSION: DESERT BOOTS

This trend obsession blind sided me a little. Desert boots are the sort of footwear your dad would approve of, which should automatically render them unappealing to the world’s fashionistas, but somehow I find myself very in the market for them.

I haven’t shopped in Clarks since I was a child and I managed to persuade my mum to buy me a pair of Magic Steps (who remembers those? Check out this very 80s ad and indulge your nostalgia), but nobody does a desert shoe as comfortable and appealing. And if you really can’t over their dad-ness buy one that’s almost as comfy with a wedge for extra height.
