Katie Grand designed a range of accessories for Hogan and called on all her supermodel friends to front the campaign, because it really doesn’t get much cooler than leggy models in high-tops, does it?
Grand also revealed that the wedge high-top has been around for ages, stating “The Attractive [shoe model above] has been in the Hogan archive for years.” Who knew?
When it was revealed that Hedi Slimane would take the reins at YSL it wasn’t the fact that the Parisian fashion house picked a renowned menswear designer with a penchant for stripped-back minimalism which surprised me, it was the announcement that Slimane would continue with photography alongside his prestigious new appointment.
I had no idea how accomplished he had become since leaving Dior in 2007 to concentrate on life behind the lens, but the work speaks for itself – moody black and white shots of top models with just-been-f**ked hair, holding smouldering cigarettes.
Rumor has it he’ll be shooting campaigns for Saint Laurent Paris (as he recently renamed it) himself, and it’s little wonder when the results are this striking…
So, this just in, it seems Lana Del Rey is Mulberry‘s latest muse. The label made the announcement last night, just before the lights went down for its AW12 show, via Twitter (how else?).
Emma Hill explained ‘I love Lana’s nostalgic references to bygone glamour and the fact that her look is retrospective yet so modern. This inspired us to create a bag that was timeless, refined and elegant, yet with a beautiful practicality that would suit any woman. We love its perfect proportions and effortless simplicity. As soon as the sketches were completed it felt so familiar, loaded with classic Mulberry heritage DNA.’
Of course the singer got a front row seat to see her namesake bag make its catwalk debut…
After writing a feature on her last week for SheerLuxe I’ve become somewhat of a fan. However you feel about the music she’s irrefutably one of the most intriguing pop stars out there at the moment. But does she deserve to be the new Alexa? The jury is still out in that one.
You know London Fashion Week has kicked off when your Twitter feed is bombarded with hundreds of new tweets in mere moments, and at 9am too.
Today also marks the 10 year anniversary of Topshop’s NEWGEN sponsorship. Over the past decade they’ve helped nurture the talents of Erdem, JW Anderson, Meadham Kirchhoff, Jonathan Saunders, Holly Fulton, Marios Schwab, Christopher Kane, Mary Katrantzou, Roksanda Ilincic and more. It’s a considerable contribution to British fashion and it’s one they hope to continue. This morning, on the opening morning of LFW, Sir Phillip Green announced that Topshop will be renewing it’s sponsorship for another decade. Hurrah!
To celebrate, everyone’s favourite high street shop is releasing a collection of limited edition T-shirts designed by its NEWGEN alumni. Plus it’s released a Nick Knight-directed fashion film starring Karlie Kloss – check it out for a retrospective look at some of Topshop’s most memorable collaborations.
The NEWGEN T-shirts are on sale here, priced at £30. All proceeds go to charity.
