THE ULTIMATE LEATHER DRESS

How strange to think, amidst all the fetishistic second-skin pieces saturating the fashion world this season, that it all started with the gentle reintroduction of the leather jacket.

My dalliance slowly developed from that staple piece into a fully fledged obsession. A leather trim / pocket /sleeve has the ability to make me weak at the knees, and now I think I’ve finally found the ultimate item to add to my rapidly multiplying collection – Muubaa’s Lantana T-shirt Dress.

Muubaa is pretty much leading the way when it comes to leather. Its creations are always contemporary with an element of the experimental (I also own a jacket by the label – a suede body with removable leather arms to transform it into a sleeveless piece) and this dress is a perfect example of its design signature.

It’s made from a buttery-soft brushed leather, so matt and deliciously pliable that you could pair it with your trusty biker jacket and heavy black boots – head-to-toe in ferocious leather – and pull it off with aplomb.

JAEGER’S CELINE LOOK-ALIKE BAG

The best thing about going to press days is sussing out where each label’s strengths lie, so you can just cut to the chase and get those future must-have pieces as soon as the new season drops (case in point: the pink pleated Carrie skirt from Whistles. I saw so many editors wearing them at Fashion Week in February, and before long you couldn’t lay hands on one for love nor money).

Jaeger is my tip for handbags this AW.  Don’t miss the Celine-alike at a fraction of the cost.

Celine shopper? Is that you?

DANIELLE SCUTT FOR TOPSHOP’S FREEDOM JEWELLERY

After a three season hiatus Danielle Scutt was welcomed back to London Fashion Week with open arms. Her AW11 front row was packed with editors – faces illuminated from the soft glow of their iPads – and their reviews, for the most part, were equally glowing.

Of the shows I watched it was undoubtedly my favorite. I couldn’t take my eyes off of the jewellery – thick chains draped from hips, chokers, shiny shoe clips and what Style.com’s Maya Singer refered to in her write-up as ‘frankly wackadoodle earrings’.

If you love them as much as I do you’ll be excited to hear that all the pieces used on Scutt’s catwalk were actually part of her collaboration with Topshop’s jewellery line Freedom. Which means that from April 1st they’ll all be available to buy online. Horray!

Put that date in your diary now.
