HAIR TREND: THINK PINK

Experimental dye jobs, eh? Who could have possibly foreseen a trend for 8 inch roots and poorly bleached ends that look like they’ve been coloured with Sun-In (you’ll remember this stuff from school? It turned your hair an orangey hue and gave it a lovely straw-like consistency, yet we all persisted with it anyway. Penny dropped yet?). But even I, the perpetual brunette, was enticed by the idea of light pink tresses.

Perhaps it’s residue from my inexplicable childhood desire to be the pink-haired centaurette from Disney’s Fantasia (I know, I know!), but when I saw this Fashion week snap I immediately called Bleach in Dalston to make an appointment.

FINALLY, My Little Pony hair has become a trend. Thanks to model / stone cold fox Charlotte Free, 80s babies everywhere can indulge their inner Barbie girl.

Of course I didn’t have the guts to bleach the crap out of my dark locks in the end, but on those days when I’m feeling particularly reckless I still get sorely tempted. A million high fives to all the girls who’ve had the guts to go for it…

Aaaaand just for fun…

TREND OBSESSION: WAXED JEANS

Like the rest of the world I’ve got a massive fixation with waxed jeans at the moment. Of course the dream would be the J Brand version, but having promised myself I’d see out September with a least £50 left in my account (for once) I’m going to have to take my quest to the high street.

Zara and Topshop both have some pretty good options, but if you want the real high-shine coating (which I do) then All Saints is the one. I love both of these – it’s an eeny, meeny, miny, moe situation…

LABEL LOVE: FINDERS KEEPERS

The label on everybody’s lips at the moments seems to be Australian-based Finders Keepers. It’s been about for a couple of years now and, as seems to be the trend with Aussie brands, it’s ultra attuned to the fashion zeitgeist.

Finders Keepers’ USP is fast fashion; a new collection every month in fact (and you thought Karl Lagerfeld could churn them out). But banish all thoughts of Primarni, because these designs offer a high-end feel at a surprisingly affordable price point.

I’ve ordered the piece in the centre – the black dress with the cut out detailing. If you like what you see make sure you track them down at Harvey Nics asap.
